My thoughts today

I’ve been hearing a lot on the boob tube about the Catholic Church not wanting to bend to (what some think is public opinion), that same sex marriages  should be recognized by the  church.  And of course I’ve heard as much about (supposedly) the majority of Americans want the  the Second Ammendment thrown in the Trash,  and think that the Constitution no longer needs to be followed, because its old.

(Note:  I’m a heterosexual gunny,  and not a Catholic)

Both ideas are so very wrong for the fabric of this nation.   The Church has not existed for all these years to bow to the wishes of a few people.   And the Second Ammendment,  has   kept us free for over 200 years.  Neither can be subjected to the will of a few politico’s.  Neither can be bent for the will of a few,  or even the will of many.

If the Church bends on this,   they will cease to exist as a church.   If the Consitution and Bill of Rights are subverted,  this country will cease to exist as the “Home of the Brave and Land of the Free”

Shame on Connecticut and Colorado.

Historical facts about progressive politics

I recently heard a quote by Hillory Clinton stating that she was not a Lberal,  that she is a Progressive Democrat.   I tend to agree with her on that.  I also tend to think that Obama falls/fails into the same mold,  though maybe a little more extreme.

Obama and Hillory,  in fact, most so called liberals fit very easily into this Progressive Democrat model.   That puts them squarely in the follow group of very intelligent progressive statesmen of the past:

Franklin D. Roosevelt,  John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson,Woodrow Wilson,  Fank Goodnow,  John Dewey, Fredrich Jackson Turner, Theodore Roosevelt.   Barak Obama and Hillory Clinton  (fit right in).

In contrast to Franklin D. Roosevelt and his ideological successors, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson,   Ronald Reagan sought the restoration of limited government. Today, our choice is clear: Will we live by the principles of the American Founding, or by the values of the Progressives?

On January 15th in the White House, the President [Lyndon Johnson] told a group of citizens they were going to take all the money they thought was being unnecessarily spent, “take it from the haves and give it to the have-nots who need it so much.” When Karl Marx said this he put it:…“from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” …

Woodrow Wilson stated that the Declaration of Independence would work fine if you took out the follow part:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Frank Goodnow stated that:  “man has no natural rights,  all rights are given and taken by the government”

Theodore Roosevelt  said:   “There are NO limits to the power of National government,  Government should control, commerce, property rights, liberty,  and Distribution of WEALTH”.

All of the above have at one time submitted that: “Communities of men are far superior to individuals”   and that “Democracy and Socialism are basically the same thing.”

The above statements are historically true and very provable.  I’d be interested to hear any comments as to why you think the above people are correct in their visions for this country.

Learning about the Constitution

Yes,  I am learning quite a bit from taking online courses at Hillsdale College.

A sort of “light went on” when I realized that all the hype on the news about Congress and the Senate not working together,  is just that,  HYPE!   Get a clue,   they’re not supposed to work together,  The President isn’t supposed to work with the Senate,  the Senate isn’t supposed to work with Congress,  and the Supreme Court Justices aren’t supposed to work with any of them!!!   That’s the way our government is designed (by the Constitution) to work,  It’s Called,  ”Checks and Balances“.    We have “Checks and Balances” built in,   so    no one,  or two of those groups can become Tyrants,  and so the majorities can’t  become Tyrants over the minorities.

It appears to me,  that our current political problems come from the President and the Senate being to closely aligned,   and to a lessor degree the alignment of the Congress and the Supreme Court.   If either side can pull the other fully to their way of thinking,  making 3 of the 4 branches of government fully aligned,  (THE PARTY LINE) they will have very nearly succeeded in defeating the purpose of our founding fathers.   This should be watched very closely,  we are playing with the “Fires of Hell”.  I believe we are at a point,  where the Constitution should be studied and adhered to religiously.

 

Take your convictions from knowledge

I have very little to say publicly anymore.  I’ve changed my post status to make 99.9% of my posts private.  When I enter a public discussion,  I’m often told that I’m uninformed.   So I’ve added this post with a link to Hillsdale College‘s free courses on the Constitution..    After watching multiple video’s and reading many web sources about the recent election.   Videos like this one:  ”  who voted for obama ”    My online response is to plead with people to quit believing everything the media news reports,  and get educated if they want to vote.

Many of the online college courses at Hillsdale are FREE!  My wish for you and my advice,  is:  Please do not vote just because you can.  If you care about this country,  vote because “YOU” care,  not because someone told you how to care,  or someone told you how to vote.   Take a course,  or just listen to the precourse discussions,  and learn how our government is supposed to work.  It’s the only way you can sort through the garbage spouted by politicians and their media buddies.

 

The Great Divide

We had a get together last night and discussion turned to politic’s.  It amazes me how divided we are.  One close friend,  is an Obama supporter, and gun owner.   He adamantly supports Obama’s policies, see’s nothing wrong in Obama’s first term,  and is very happy that he got reelected.  He does not believe that Obama wants to take away our guns,  or that Hillory wants the U.N. Gun ban to be enforced in our country.    Nor does he believe that Obama appointing 2 or more activist liberal supreme court justices will have any effect on our futures?   And this man has a Master’s degree!

I have to admit I don’t understand his thought processes.  I don’t understand the minds of a large number of Obama supporters.  I ended my part of the conversation with stating that we’ll have to agree to disagree,  and that I’m very worried about our future,  but,  not overly concerned,  because I figure I won’t be around to see the worse of what’s coming.  My main concern is for my children and their children.
