A True Tale of Demon’s and Wizards
Once upon a time (at least 5 or 7 years ago), there was a very large castle in the land of Brittle Stone. The Lords of the castle had spend a lot of gold to make their castle large, beautiful, and hopefully secure. Unfortunately, when the last stone was laid, they realized that they had forgotten to install doors, windows, and stairways, making it quite difficult to use the castle. They saw that other castles where hiring wizards to magically install wonderous doors, windows, and even stairways. After some time of deliberation and debate, they decided that they too needed a wizard to make their castle complete. A nearby castle’s wizard had a young apprentice, and the Lords decided that they could hire this apprentice reasonably, by passing the large fee’s of an experience wizard.
With help from his mentor, and from a young page of the castle, the apprentice grew rapidly into a full fledged, powerful Wizard. The Wizard worked feverously to build thousands of magical doors and windows, and finally beautiful long winding stairways. The Wizard even brought completely new and unheard of magic into the Castle, and shared his knowledge of it, with other nearby Castles, so much so that the Castles where all eventually joined by a long moat.
This sharing nature of our Wizard, led in part to his downfall. It seems that one of the Castles brought into the circling moat, had visions of power and glory. The Greatnit Castle is was called. It seems that the Greatnit wizards immediately had in mind to control everything inside the moat.
Our Wizard went merrily through his days, tuning his magic, always making it stronger, and testing the magic of the other Castles to help then strengthen their magic. This went on for a number of years with our wizard happily toiling away, while in the dark recesses of Greatnit, evil magic was worked against him. Our Wizard heard rumors that the Lords of the Castle were making plans to replace him with a troop of new wizards, who used a new and entirely different type of magic, but he wasn’t overly concerned with these rumors, because everyone knew that he was getting older and was ready to move back to the high distant mountains were he originally learned his craft, and drift slowly away from the busy world of Castles and moats.
Our Wizard, arrived at his enchanting chamber one morning to check a couple of his spells, and was shocked to find that the encantations to open ALL of his spells had somehow been changed. He nearly panicked, what damage could be done the Castle? Just in time, he remembered a sort secret enchantment that he had build years ago for just this kind of invasion. He quickly muttered the arcane words, and the spells eerily wavered in and out of his vision, enough for him to see that all of his locking spells had been removed, in fact all traces that identified him had been removed. Now he did panick, before he could think things through, a dark spell of magic ending words spewed from his lips. The doors wiffed away in puffs of smoke, the windows went black, and the long graceful stairways shimmered once and were gone. He sat there in his now dark and quiet enchanting room, planning his next move to bring back the doors, windows and stairways. Again under his control, and not under the control of the unknown demons.
As he sat and contemplated, a knock came at his door. A page had brought the message that the Lords wanted to see him immediately! As he rode his magic carpet over to the Lords hall, he was worried. He thought that they would be very angry that he had allowed this to happen, so mad, that they had pulled him away, before he could bring back even the deodorized doors and windows.
He was escorted into the Lords Hall by a large heavily armed Blue Knight. Once inside the hall he saw all the the main Lords and two more heavily armed Blue Knights. The main Lord told him to sit, the told him to drop his spell book on the desk, along with any magic potions or powders that he had on his person. The high Lord then told him he was to be escorted off of the Castle Grounds, and would never be allowed to return, not even to clean up the magic that he normally left sparking around his chamber. The Lord also stated that someone would contact him in a week, to collect any Castle related potions, powders, knewts eye’s etc, etc, that he kept at his cave. The two Blue Knights then sternly escorted him out to his magic carpet and directed him away from the castle.
The Wizard was stunned, no explainations, no courtesy for his years of faithful service. On his way back to his cave he stopped and talked with another wizard (of a different branch of Wizardry) for advice. This Wizard being wise in the ways of the world suggested that he quietly wait a bit and see what the spirits brought him. Which being a wise wizard, he did.
During the week he waiting for the lower Lord to visit his cave to collect the paltry bit’s of magic dust, bat poop, and such, the spirits brought him a wealth of knowledge about the confusing time he had just gone through. It seems that the Ring of Lords had made a secret decision to replace our Wizard with the group of Dark (and he learned EVIL) wizards from the Greatnit Castle group. Rather than tell him of this decision, they determined to keep it secret from him, shun his help, and have the Blue Knights throw him out. This troubled him greatly and he meditated over it much. During his meditations he was visited by a kindly spirit, who eased his mind by telling him that the Ring of Lords had severely damaged thier meta-physical persona’s by this treachery, and would pay for it, in the afterlife.
In the years that followed, our Wizard came to understand that the Dark Evil Wizards of Greatnit, had enchanted the gullible Ring of Lords, worked their evil magic, and now controlled all of the moated Castles with a heavy hand, and the people of the lands around the moat, paid much gold for their dark services. He was a forgiving Wizard, and never sought revenge on those who had wronged him. He moved back to his quiet mountain cave, under the flowing waters, and lived out his life in enchanted harmony. Well almost,,,,,, he did work one small slightly dark spell, that caused a small bit of the gold sent to Greatnit, to find it’s way quietly up into the mountains, under the flowing water.
From PapaTodd.com I learn that,
Gee, I hope they’ve figured out how to block American radio stations brodcasting across the border. I’m also hoping for a big boost in sales for the Dire Strait’s CD, oh yeah, and you can hear the song at either of the above links, and buy a copy of the CD at Amazon for a couple of bucks. The Dream Police, are getting into my head!
I recently read a quote stating “the Constitution is always going to raise more questions than it answers and confound more readers than it comforts” , feeling rather helpful this morning, I’d like to offer this website, to anyone confused by our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
It’s a government archive website, so it should be fairly trustworthy, and the documents are laid out in clear text, and copies are also downloadable. Anyone taking the time to study this website a bit, that has trouble understanding what these documents say, more than likely just doesn’t WANT to understand them.
And, That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
I was sitting at the table with one of my grandsons the other day while he was drawing. Some how, the idea of me drawing a “Rat Fink” for him came up, which I did. He liked it, but, having never seen a Rat Fink before, he had nothing to compare my version to. So, I looked up Big Daddy Roth, and Rat Fink on Google and found this picture for him.
I discovered Big Daddy Roth, (Ed) in a magazine called Drag Cartoons, back in the early sixties. (I was 13) I was quite the fan of the great little comic car magazine, done completely in the style of Mr. Roth. I also got a kick out of seeing the cars and bikes he designed at various car shows.
It turns out that HotRod magazine did and article about Car Toons, a follow up, if you want more info about it.
I was a little sad to learn that Ed Roth passed away on April 4th , 2001, and there’s a bit of his history here.
I wound up ordering a number of five inch decals of the Rat Fink, and in the spring intend to place them on my boat, golf cart, and trucks, in honor of Mr. Big Daddy Roth. (March 4th 1932 – April 4th 2001) Rest in Peace Ed.
