I know there is a lot of sickness out on the web, and I accidently ran across a particularly large concentration of it. I you have a strong stomach, and need a reminder of how we need to protect our Constitutional Rights, check out the VPC Blog .
I reset our outdoor lights not to come on until 9:30, (They normally come on at 9pm, ’cause this time of year, with DST, it doesn’t get partially dark until about 8:45pm)
We turned off the one light we had on in the kitchen, at 7:55pm, (almost full daylight), and watched a pretty nice sunset. It was just starting to get a little dim, and we expected to see a bit of darkness before 9pm. About 8:40, just as the reddness of the sunset started to darken, street lights, popped on all across the river. Then yard lights, everywhere. (Not mine) So we sat basking in the glow of mulitple organge vapor lights for the last 15 minutes of “Earth Hour”, then turned on the DVR and watched a movie.
I’m thinking Earth hour, wasn’t that well publicized in our neighborhood.
Ok, Google has gone black to honor Earth Hour. I suppose I can do the same.

Not quite, the AuGres is open out almost to the boat launch, and looking pretty sick out to the mouth of the river. Saginaw Bay is open water, anywhere but the protected bay’s and harbors. That 3/8 mile of mushy frozen river ice, is all that prevents a clear run,, river to Bay. Now, we wait for Walleye season to reopen, and my latest order of JLVLures should be here any day.

The ice is going out like a lamb this year. It’s just kind of melting away, and slowly floating downstream. No crushed docks, or floating tree’s, no late night grinding of huge ice flows. I haven’t been here long enough to answer why, but it could be because there’s no where for a fast ice rush to go. The Bay is still frozen over! From the mouth of the river, I could see a couple of small sections of open water, but mostly it was ice. And even though we lost an ice fisherman yesterday a little south of here, there are still a lot of folks out there in shanties. They do seem to be staying closer to shore though. Personally, a pan of Walleye just ain’t enough to get this one out on that ice.
