Lot’s of slow Blogs, but it seems there’s stuff to blog about?

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

With the rate that I’m posting lately,  I guess I can’t complain about the many blogs that I used to read daily,  that are no longer posting daily, (or even weekly).

The local newspapers are still horrible,  and the broadcast news is even worse than ever,  and now it’s hard to find a good up to date Blog.  :-(

I’ve got a smoldering one about Global Warming.  I have two articles from which I’m going to pull much of the logic for this smoldering writeup.  One from www.hillsdale.edu  in their “IMPRIMUS”.  Dated August 2007, Volume 36, Number 8,  written by S. Fred Singer,  Professor Emeritus of Environmental Sciences, Univ. of Virginia.  Mr. Singer asks ” Global warming: man made, or natural”,  and goes on to venture the theory that there’s nothing humankind can do to alter the Earth’s tides of heating and cooling.  Excellent article!  Hillsdale doesn’t seem to have it online yet,  but keep an eye on their Imprimus articles,  and you might find it soon.  The other was in the Bay City Times editorial pages,  by Cal Thomas , and titled “Global warming jihadists are full of hot air“.  In it, he notes that America’s warmest year was 1934 NOT 1998,  the early 1900’s were warmer than the first few years of 2000,  and that in 1975 Newsweek,  was convinced by “scientific evidence”, that a new Global Ice Age was upon us!!  Global warming?  Naw,  I think I’ll shop around a bit before I buy in on this one.

Other ideas to blog about:  Michigan’s crazy Canadian born Governor,  with times currently so hard in Michigan,  what better idea than to raise the income taxes,  hunting and fishing license fee’s,  campground fee’s etc, etc.   Oh yeah,  and just keep right on pumping that Canadian trash into our great state.

And then there’s this ludicrous Presidential campaign shaping up,   and the A-holes at www.moveon.org stirring up their lies.  Seems like the bloggers should be burning up the network cables.

Bah Humbug,  no wonder blogs are slow,  it’s to depressing to think about that kind of crap very often.  I’m gonna down a shot of Dew,  and hit the hay,  got an early day tomorrow,  Turkey Shoot!!!  And if you’ve got tickets to the gun raffle,  Good Luck!!

AT&T Phone card update

Friday, September 7th, 2007

I made a few phone calls and here’s a synopsis;

Call FCC,  response: “They did nothing to force AT&T to raise their rates.  They’re not even responsible for AT&T’s oversight,  the Michigan Public Utility Commision is.”

Call MPUC, response:  “They did nothing to force AT&T to raise their rates.  The FCC raised some access fee’s for AT&T to access the national network, and AT&T passed on those fee’s.”  I asked if it wouldn’t have been a little more honest of AT&T to have raised the price of the phone card,  rather than sneaking around the subject, and tripling the cost per minute on the card?  Response from MPUC:Yes.

Conclusion 1:  AT&T is being dishonest about their price increases.

Conclusion 2: The FCC is being dishonest about their role in the price increase.

Conclusion 3:  The MPUC seems to give honest answers to honest questions,  (at least in this case).

Conclusion 4: It’s going to cost a lot more to make a long distance call within the boundaries of the State, and there’s probably nothing we can do about it.

Final Result:  Attempting not to do business with AT&T

AT&T phone cards, NOT GOOD!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

We’ve been using the AT&T phone cards for our long distance,  for quite a few years now, but it looks like that’s coming to an end.  We’ve fortunately learned that AT&T has greedily decided to charge 3 minutes of time for each minute used for in state calls.  That would make a new 1000 minute AT&T card,  a 333.33 minute card,  multiplying the price by a factor of Three!!!!  NOT GONNA HAPPEN AT&T!!

The amazing thing about this scam,  is, after all the years these creeps have been selling these cards,  they don’t even feel that it’s necessary to notify us of the 3X price increase on new cards.  SMELLS a Little bit,  doesn’t it??

GB

Breaking News:  It’s supposedly not AT&T pulling the shit,  and it doesn’t just apply to AT&T branded cards.  It’s due a ruling by the good ol’ boy’s at the FCC!!  All instate calls are now subject to a bunch of new fee’s.  Ain’t it just great how our wonderful government agencies protect the interests of the people!!!!!!!!  :-(

Retirement

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

Retirement is GREAT!  I’ve just taken the time to browse back over my posts from the earliest,  seems like, I may have mellowed a bit!

On that note,  it still bewilders me how some people can use their positions of power to treat other people in such shitty manor, (but let’s not dwell on the past).  On to the present and the future.

Retirement is definately not a time of relaxation and rest!  I don’t know how I ever managed when I was working!  It seems like the projects never get caught up,  there’s always a list of things to do. (there’s also all those fish that need catching,  and all that paper punching that needs to be done).

Every once in a while,  I think maybe I’ll pick up a part time job,  but then I wake up and come back to reality.  :-)
