Au Gres River followup report

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Summer’s back and the Walleye are hitting pretty well in the river,  and I’m told that they’re hot out past the mouth of the river.  We’re also pulling in an occasional very nice Pike.

Still no response from the DNR about the VHS thing.  Good news is,  none of the fish we’ve landed in the past day or so have shown any symptoms.

Our new riverside deck is complete.   Now it’s time to start thinking about getting a boat dock in .

Au Gres River mini-report

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The weather has taken a colder turn,  and rain has been about for the last couple of days.  Not good fishing weather.

Before the weather turned ugly,  we were catching a few fish on the river,  Walleye and Pike.  Some pretty nice size ones.  In a few day’s they’d be legal keepers.

Unfortunately,  almost every fish we catch,  has what looks like, (to an untrained eye)  Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia,  or VHS.    They look like they’ve been beaten up by a larger fish,  and then dragged down the pavement behind a truck.

I’ve contacted the DNR for a determination of this but haven’t gotten and answer yet.  Let’s hope it’s just a bully down there.

Light blogging notice; Pt. Lookout mini-report

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

The weather’s been great,  and we’ve been using the time to build a new (on the river) deck.  Haven’t been spending much time near a computer.

The Walleye are still hitting pretty good out off the mouth of the river,  and a few Pike, Walleye, and Northern are hitting once in a while on the river.  Today’s catch included a pretty little 22 inch Walleye,  and a grizzled, chewed up 25 inch Pike.  To bad we couldn’t keep the Walleye,  it sure looked tasty!

Excellent question for Anti-gun freaks

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Note: This link was blantantly stolen from The Smallest Minority

Joe Huffman has the best single-line logical refutation of gun-control - his “Just one question:”

Can you demonstrate just one time, one place, throughout all of human history, where restricting the access of handheld weapons to the average person made them safer?

Support the Tiahrt Amendment

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

The Tiahrt Amendment basically keeps firearms owner information in the hands of people who really need it.  The BATF and Police,  and out of the hands of radical anti-gunners.  Repealing the Tiahrt and passing the sick H.R.1022 will spell the end of the Second Amendment.

The NRA action center will give you the name, address and email of your representatives,  call or email them and let them know we do not want Tiahrt repealed,  and that H.R. 1022 is unconstitutional and a crock of shit.
