Ramblings, grumbling, etc.

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

We’ll I’ve just about settled on the RWS model 48 in .22 cal. with a 4x scope, from Cabelas. The price is right and the scope is matched to the odd recoil of the rifle. Their out of stock right now,, but I guess I can wait a couple of weeks.

I’d much rather be ordering that new battle rifle, but with the market uncertainty and the treachery of General Motors toward it retiree’s, I just can’t justify the cost right now. I’ll get this little fun gun, and stock up on ammo for the current arsenal.

Speaking of Generous Motors,,,
I received my health care packet from GM yesterday afternoon.
Right after a particularly bad day at work, (those are getting pretty common). We knew it was coming, We knew it was treachery, and we knew it was very likely illegal and certainly immoral, so somehow we didn’t think it would be allowed to happen. YEAH RIGHT!
Bottom line: It’s going to cost GM retiree’s a Whole LOT more for health care!
It fact there’s a cute little statement in the packet saying,
“If your monthly pension check doesn’t cover your medical co-payments, you will be sent a separate bill!!!!!!!!.

Thank God, I am healthy, have a stable family, and still have hope for my future; because,,,, the alternative isn’t very pretty.
A wild thing pushed into a corner, comes out fighting for it’s life.
NOTE to GM, the UAW, ORS, and anyone once else with design’s on my money, my freedom, or my welfare:
I do not intend to die in a welfare home.
I will not die in a political prison.
I and hopefully thousands, even millions of my brethren, will choose where, when, and how to make our final stands.

Sheridan to RWS?

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

The plumbing repairs went pretty well, so I guess I do owe Len that beer.

I’ve done a little research on the replacement for the Silver Streak.
It’s looking a bit like a RWS Model 48 in 5mm (.20 cal.). Or maybe in .22 caliber, since they’re about 50 bucks cheaper.

Air guns are a bit more expensive than I remembered, I know I paid less than 100 for the Sheridan, but it’s looking like a good single cock gun is going to be a little over 300!! Even the Silver Streak is up around 200 now.

Now, to find a good scope for it.

Sheridan fun

I was happily going though my day’s thinking this beauty was mine, until my son reminded me that I bought it for him, some twenty odd years ago. It’s a Sheridan Sliver Streak in 5.5mm. Walnut Stocked, with a satin chrome finish, and it’s a shooter!
Think 1 inch groups at 35 yard. Seven pumps and one Sheridan cylindrical lead air pellet, spells one dead varmint!
Hmmm, what to replace it with? I’m thinking a single pump, high velocity 5mm, with a lightweight night scope. ;-)

Then on to things less gratifying;

In the above photo, notice that water stain directly below the second floor shower drain pipe. Directly above the first floor kitchen.
A quick call to Len at Frame to Finish Carpentry in Augres, got me a visit by Len, with a cordless skill saw and a good flashlight. After cutting an access hole in the bathroom floor, and accessing the cituation, Len laid out a plan to try to prevent having to tear out the kitchen ceiling. (I took this photo, by sticking the camera down the access hole, and clicking the shutter.)
I followed Len’s advice, and we’re now waiting for everyting to dry, so we can test for further leaks. (fingers crossed) If it still leaks, it looks like it’s going to be time to call the Insurance company and rip out the kitchen ceiling. :-(
If it’s still dry after 24 hours, I’ll haf’ta buy Len a beer.

The U.N. and OUR CONSTITUTION!!

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

“Neither the United Nations nor any other foreign influence may claim jurisdiction to meddle with the freedoms guaranteed by our Bill of Rights, endowed by our Creator and possessed as the birthright of all human kind.

The Global United Nations gun ban treaty is a ticking time bomb - just a pen stroke away from U.N. gun laws being enforced in the United States. Any Anti-Gun president - Say a “Hillory Clinton”- could call the U.N. document an “agreement” insteady of a “treaty”, and bypass needing a two thirds of the U.S. Senate for ratification.
This is EXACTLY what [=#ff0000]Bill Clinton did to get the North American Free Trade Agreement, (NAFTA), which congress passed with simple majorities.

On July fourth, the day of celebration of our Independence and freedom, Kofi Annon and the United Nations, have scheduled a conference in New York City, inviting dictators and terrorist states, to come together and conspire to destroy OUR freedoms!!!

Ok,
First off, read the last line of the above quote. Who?-Is responsible for Job loss in the United States?

Then,
The big one,,,,,
In my opinion, if the above mentioned abomination should somehow be pushed through,
If foriegn interests start dictating the policies of our government,
If our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and National birthright, were to be compromised by those in power,
The citizenry of the United States, would have but one terrible choice;
Take up Arms against the Usurpers and drive them from our Great Nation!!!!

And that’s all I’ve got to say about that,

Da Vinci,, the movie!

Monday, May 15th, 2006

This morning I heard a news report about the so-called controversial new move, “The Da Vinci Code”.

Duh,, yeah, I said “movie”, not documentary,, movie, as in, film made for entertainment purposes.

Author Dan Brown, readily agree’s that it’s a work of fiction, inspired by his interest in the history of the life of Jesus.

Yet, Low and Behold, we get the morning news, with blond interviewee, stating, “I was brought up, to have an open mind, I’m going to see the movie as a learning experience. I feel you should alway’s listen to other peoples opinions. ”

DA, (err, I mean Duh!), It’s a MOVIE, not an educational resource.

Hate to point out reality here, but those of you who are really afraid of this movie, because you are so insecure in your faith,,, and those of you who think you are going to be enlightened by this movie and you will leave the theater with new knowledge about the teachings of God, ALL NEED TO DO A SERIOUS REALITY CHECK!

IT’S HOLLYWEIRD!
