All in all, it took about 8 hours to get from base XP to XP SP3. Then 12 more hours for all the updates from Microsoft, to download and install. But, the Toshiba runs a lot faster than it did before the restore. While waiting on it, I researched Kubuntu and TinyXP, both seem pretty interesting and one may possibly find a home on the old laptop someday. (If it starts slowing down again) But then there was always that idea I had, to try to get Android to run on it. Right now I’m fairly happy with it. I think I mentioned in a previous post, that it had a 20 gig hard drive. XP, AVG, and Chrome, used up 9 gigs of the 18 gig space that is actually there.
It’s actually kind of impressive that a 9 year old laptop will run XP as quick as it now does, and at 9 years old, the only thing that has been replaced on it, is the battery.
