Nice Day

All day sun,  and a high of 77 degrees.   At bit early?  Yes,  but I did get the small fishing boat unwrapped and ready to drop in the water.   I also put in the order to get the SportCraft unwrapped and summerized.  Soon as it’s home,  I need to re-line the Walleye rod’s,  reinstall the electronics,  and get a coat of bottom wax , or bottom paint, on it.  I’m leaning toward trying the bottom wax this year,  since it’s never been bottom painted.

Au Gres River Mini Report

Suckers ‘r here!  It might not be like the Rifle River a dozen or so miles south,  but the Suckers are running in the Au Gres.  A couple of hours of shorefishing yesterday brought in a half dozen nice sized ones,  all legally hooked. The weather outside has been fairly cold but tolerable if your dressed for it.  And a hot flash is predicted for the  weekend.   Probably just long enough to get the buds on the trees out,  then a nice frost to kill them all.  :-(

Wine and cheeze, sitting in the Sun on the deck.

Actually it was the second time we’ve done it this year,  but today was the first time it was really comfortable.  The high was 51 degrees,  but as long as you were sheltered from the breeze and in the sun,  it was a great day to be outside.

heh, heh, heh,  and my Internet still works.  :-)

Ubuntu via VMware

I’m now writing this post on Ubuntu running on a VMware virtual machine.   First impressions,   I think I still prefer XP,   but I’ll continue to play around with Ubuntu.   So far I’ve had no problems with Ubuntu’s internet access,   and it’s running “nat’ed ” through the Windows connection.  I’m not sure what kind of resources Ubuntu really wants,  it doesn’t get anything to generous as a virtual machine,  and it’s speed probably suffers.  Also consider,  I’m running a pretty old version of VMware.  I wonder how my laptop would do running Ubuntu.  It’s an older Toshiba,  1 Ghz processor, and 512mb’s of Ram?

At any rate,  Firefox is running pretty well right now and I’m able to get to web sites via XP and Chrome,  or Ubuntu and Firefox.   It’s nice to be back online!  Sure wish I could figure out what hosed IE-8 ?

Internet ON, by way of an old copy of AUDITOR Security Collection

Well,,,, I found a way to browze the Internet. All I have to do is insert and boot from an old AUDITOR Security CD. Totally bypassing anything Windoze. (Its interesting that my keyboard mapping is off though).Where I now stand: Windoze, I cant load most web pages, but I can successfully ping them.AUDITOR Sec. CD, Browse web pages freelyThese two statements hold true for my desktop, and my laptop. Either OS. My Charter Tech, (whos been very helpful) thinks the problem is Internet Explorer ver. 8 causing the problem, because AUDITOR uses Mozilla Firefox. I suppose thats my next step, install a new browser under Windoze.       UPDATE:  It appears that installing Google Chrome (against my better wishes) has also cured the InterNot problem.  (If so, chock one up for Charter Tech, J— ! )     Update #2:   Reinstalling Internet Explorer 8,  Did NOT help my other computer!  Currently downloading Chrome on it!      UPDATE #3  Chrome is now install on both PC’s,  (laptop and desktop) both are working almost perfectly,  (one glitch time in a couple of hours use).  This crap has got me to thinkin’ hard,  and Ubuntu ver. 9.10 is currently downloading.   If all goes well with the download (690 mb’s) , I’ll be installing Ubuntu on a VMware virtual machine later tonight or tomorrow.      It’s been a while since I’ve played with it,  but maybe it’s time to try again.
