Way busy

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Life has been moving very fast around here lately.  Not much time to blog, or fish,  or even practice for the upcoming turkey shoot.  I’m sorry to say,  I haven’t been keeping up with my daily blog reading either.  I’m pretty sure I’m missing some really interesting posts,  but it seems I just haven’t been getting the time to sit down.

Summer seems to be slipping away.   The week and a half of warm calm weather we had,  has come and appears to have gone.   The past few days have been very fall like. (Not to mention passing thunderstorms)  Here we are toward the end of August,  with jeans and long sleeve shirts being the norm.

HOT weather on the AuGres

Monday, August 17th, 2009

They’re saying it’s going to last a week.  It’s been HOT and Muggy!  Quite a switch from the cool, sometimes cold windy days that we’ve been seeing most of this summer.   Last week was the first time all summer that almost anyday was a boating day.  The muggy thunderstorms have changed that,   but it still definatley summer weather.  The fish are mostly all hiding somewhere,  so no fishing report.

Dental Insurance to replace GM’s???

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

A letter arrived from “Personal Blue Dental”  (Blue Cross),  stating that they were offering a “for pay” insurance to replace that which Generous Motors took away from us.  At first glance,  I didn’t like the look of it.   Topped off by the fact that they were trying to force a decision,  by leaving us only 5 days to make a decision.

A quick call to my Dentist,  confirmed my feelings.  The Dentist’s office told me that last year our expenses before the insurance company paid anything were $1270.  Four cleanings,  2 xrays, and one crown.

Compare this to the newly offered insurance.   $1100 in premiums,  $140 in copays for the cleanings,  and $400 for the crown.  Thats adds up to $1640.

Let’s see,  Out of pocket yearly expense $1270,   With Insurance yearly expense $1640.  Sorry, “Personal Blue Dental” ,  I didn’t flunk any math classes!!!!
