When we left the house today, the river was pretty normal. (Au Gres River). It was moving slowly and about 8 inches up onto the seawall. There were numerous thunderstorms around us, but the weather was nothing spectacular in our area.
When we returned about two hours later, I noticed the the dock ropes on the boats were tight. Inspection revealed that the river had risen nearly 2 feet in the 2 hours we were absent. A couple of stationary docks upriver, were completely covered, with only the dock poles sticking up out of the water! Within the next 45 minutes, the water moved back out and the river was back to normal levels.
I reckon there must have been a storm out somewhere on the bay.
