Waxing a 25ft boat=WORK

Well the Sportcraft’s hull is about 1/3 waxed.  I picked up a new prop, and installed it,  then recaulked and painted the Anchor pulpit.   Then after finding a loose bolt,  I checked every screw and bolt on the boat for tightness,  (there were a few loose screws).  Finally with daylight left,  I started the waxing process.   I finished one full side of the hull,   down to the water line.  I want to witness,  waxing a 25ft boat,  takes a whole lot more elbow grease than waxing a car!   I’ll pay for it tomorrow.  And,  there’s still the top side!

While working away,  I had the radio on in the garage.   So happens it was on a talk radio channel that featured  the Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannidy shows.   It kind of amazed me that Rush and Sean,  can find hours and hours of Democratic crap to expose/complain about.   They exposed bias,  and Democratic mismanagement and graft  all day long,  something new every 10 minutes or so,  and never repeated themselves or each other.  Amazing!  (and sad for us as a nation,  if you think about it).

Boat in the driveway

I picked up the SportCraft from storage today.    It was a nice day and I got it pretty well cleaned up and the electronics reinstalled.   Tomorrow,  if I’m ambitious enough,  I’ll get the rod holders reinstalled,  and maybe a coat of wax on the hull.  It’s just about time to get it in the water.

Next Day Followup:  Looks like I’ll be installing a new prop too.  :-(     While doing a good check over,  I found a crack in what looks like a previous repair on the existing prop.

Ditto for Saturday May 2nd.

We helped the neighbor bring up a 36 foot SeaRay,  Bay City, to Au Gres,  Saturday morning.  It was about an hour and 45 minute run,  in waves as high as 5 feet,  but the boat handled them very well.

After lunch we tried trolling the river (Au Gres River) again.   This brought us 3 more Walleye, and a 30 inch Pike.  A quick count taking,  told us that all of the last eight Walleye taken from the River,  were taken with the same lure.   An old Rapala Floating minnow,   a see through body, with a patterned foil sheet in the center,  topped by a bright blue back and head.  The rest of the lines from the boat were hauling various other floating minnows,  and occasionally a Little Cleo,  but none of them took a fish.   Hope we don’t lose that lucky lure to snag!
