Support Michael Yon

Michael Yon is taking a bit of flack for a report he did,  stating among other things,  that the majority of military style weapons being used by the Mexican drug gangs,  could not have come from the United States,  (as many antigunner’s would have us believe).   Here’s a link to Michael’s Online Magazine ,  where you can read the article in question and the liberal anti-gunner attacks on Michael.    I can only think of  Chief of Staff Rohm Emmanuel’s statement,  “when it comes to gun control,  we should never let a good disaster go to waste”,  Well, Rohm,  I never knew there was such a thing as a “good disaster”,  but with that attitude,  the drug gang activity in Mexico,  looks like something right up your alley.   Oh,  and while we’re on that subject,  just exactly where in the U.S.  can I buy ,  hand grenades,  fully automatic weapons,  and anti-tank rockets?  Just wonderin’  ?

Quote of the Day

“To  see a thing uncolored by one’s own personal preferences and desires is to see it in it’s own pristine simplicity.”

Bruce Lee,  The Toa of Jeet Kune Do

Fishin’ the Au Gres

Mother Nature went soft today.  The seemingly everpresent cold wind died down,   and the sun came out.  The day’s high was around 50 degree’s but it felt warmer.  We spent a lot of the day on the bank of the river.   It wasn’t a “madhouse” like it tends to be a dozen or so miles to the south on the Rifle River in Omer,  but we caught a lot of Suckers,  and some of them were very big and hard fighting Suckers.  A good day for fishing.

JLV LURES Fatty Shad II

fattyshads.jpg  If (looking closely) you may think these two lures are similar.   You’d be wrong.    The topmost is a JLV Fatty Shad,  and the bottom is a prototype of the JLV Fatty Shad II.   I to was fooled until I tried the FSII in the water.   The Fatty Shad,  has a nice wiggle, a good rattle,  and runs 7 to 12 ft deep while casting/trolling.   The new Fatty Shad II, is a little heavier,  has a much different sounding rattle,  and has it’s weight distributed very differently.  (This particular beta,  also lacks paint and eye treatments).  I couldn’t get a good idea of it’s running depth in the river,  the water wasn’t deep enough.   My best guess,  allowing for the quickness of it’s dive and the slightness of it’s bouyancy would be 15 to 20 feet.   Once I get a better chance to test it,  I’ll have better info.   If your interested,  the Fatty Shads are on sale,  and the Fatty Shad II’s should be out soon,  at www.jlvlures.com .

And on the subject of fishing,  it was very cold here today,  but,  there are definately Suckers in the river.
