Yes, I am tired. A week or so ago I paused this blog, I just couldn’t bring my self to get involved with it. I’ve found a few new (to me) blogs that I like to read, and they write so much better than I. But that’s not the problem. The problem is, the shear overload of crappy stuff out there, mis-information, lies, political pandering, etc, etc. . I’ve finally learned that you can prove something, over and over, until the cows come home, and if people don’t want to believe it, they won’t. Reason and logic do not seem to come into the equations these days.
Should I choose to continue, look for fewer articles about news and politics. There are thousands, if not millions of other sites where you can pick up your news/politics fix. Myself, I think I’ll shy away from both subjects. The network news, and newspapers are just insulting, and the blog news, is infuriating. My meager offerings will change no ones mind.

Too bad you feel that way. I like reading you stuff even when we disagree. You seem to feel pretty down ever since the stuff over the auto bailout came up. I remember you calling politicos hypocrites because they did not want to bail out the auto industry but you thought they wanted to bail out the financial industry. I think maybe you missed just how much opposition to the financial industry bailout there was, much the same as it was for the auto industry. You also seemed to get really upset over the fact that were given about how much people earned in the big 3 auto makers employ. While you state what you made, the truth be told you retired about a decade ago. Things have changed, and in fact there are very different salary levels contemporaneously in the industry in Detroit right now between auto workers in various parts of the city and elsewhere. The head of GM acknowledged how much the workers earn and it was what was quoted by the politician with whom you disagreed. That was for some workers. Others make about 1/2 that at most.
Now my point in bringing it all up again is not too piss you off, but to tell you – so what if you, or I, or politicians, or unions, or workers, or citizens disagree with one another. It is not cause, or should not be cause, for you to hide your opinions on the matter. Share them with us because they do make a difference, you make a difference. You do not have to turn the tide to make a difference mind you, just take a cupful of water from it and give it to someone who thirsts and you will have done more than you could have ever imagined. Reason and logic do come to play, but turning from what you see as a problem does nothing to make it better. Instead why not be the one to raise your cup to others who would drink from it. It does not matter if they agree with you or not on your truths, it matters that they have drunk from your fountain and now share your knowledge by knowing your thoughts. They will in some way, some more some less, be affected by them. Pass that cup to me brother, I sure could use a swig right about now.
Happy New Year,
Glenn B

I don’t have the energy to argue the point. But I will offer this: I retired, as a Skilled Tradesman, making $23 dollars per hour, 40 hours a week, (true it was nearly 10 years ago). My son, turned down an offer last summer at an auto assembly plant in Flint, Mi. . The reason he turned it down was because the pay rate was less than he currently makes.
The starting rate for the assembly job he was offerred was $12.95 an hour, with no benifits for the first two years. And in reference to my Skilled Trades status, they have combined most of the trades, and greatly reduced the numbers of tades workers, if I hadn’t retired, I would likely have been laid off by now.
As for continuing on news and politics, a heart attack kind of opens your eyes a bit about what’s important. Today’s news makers, and polititions, aren’t.
