Election Day tomorrow

I plan to stay far away from the TV set tomorrow.   I really don’t want to hear the crap reporting.

Basically,  I believe that this election has been invalidated by the one sided reporting of the media.  I also believe that whom ever is elected tomorrow,  we’re in for a bunch of trouble.  I just hope and pray that tomorrow doesn’t go down in history as “the beginning of the end for the U.S.A.”

I’ll really be glad that the endless political ad’s will slow down,  but, I’m really worried for the future of our nation and the well being of our people.

And once more I’d like to forward the suggestion that polititions,  news people,  and all public speakers,  be held accountable for lying, slander,  and other evilness.

Range Report Remington 700BDL

A trip to the range today with the new Model 700.

A Remington 700 BDL in .300 Short Action Ultra Mag.  (SAUM).   Bottom line on this gun,  is a little more powerful than my old Ruger 30-06,  and builds nearly twice the chamber pressure.  The ammo also costs about 2.5 times as much as .06 ammo.  All that aside,  it’s a really nice looking gun,  shoots very well,  and doesn’t really kick that hard.

I started it out with a Bushnell Bore sighter,  (trying to save money on ammo,  $2 a pop).   The bore sighter showed it at dead on horizontally and about 12 inches high.   I brought it down to 2 inches high on the bore sighter and fired one round at 50 yards for effect.   It printed about 1 inch right of dead center,  and about 8 inches high.  I burned a few more rounds getting to near center,  then moved out to 100 yards.   Round 1 at 100,  was again about 6 inches high,  and a little right of center.   I brought it down to 2 inches high and 1 inch left of center,  then moved to 200 yards.  First shot,  6 inches high,  3 inches left of center.   It almost seems like the bullet is gravity free, and rising higher the farther it goes!

BTW,  the ammo was Remington Premier,  165 GR Core-Lokt PSP,  and all shots were fired from a Lead Sled steady rest.  The scope is a Nikon 3x to 9x ProStaff BDC.

I had brought only 20 rounds,  so ammo was starting to run low.   Another adjustment round got me to about 1/4 inch low and 2 inches left.   I fired two more rounds to confirm, and got a string of three toughing holes.  Two rounds left.   One click up and 1 click right for each round,  placed the last round at 2 inches high,  1.5 inches left.   If it had been times of old,  another box of ammo,  would likely have gotten me touching holes dead center,  but alas,  ammo prices have already negated the good times.

Still,  edging the bullseye at 200 yards,  is satisfying.  Maybe when the next pension check comes in,  I’ll get it back out there and punch those touching holes dead center.

We had an impromptu gab session at the bench about Obama trying to ban our guns,  and the general opinion was that regardless of what Obama wants,  he would never get our guns,  unfortunatley,  the anti-gunners  have already won a major battle,  by causing the price of ammo and reloading components to skyrocket.  What good are guns,  without ammo?

Apparent problems with comments

I seem to be having some sort of problems with comments on this blog.   At least,  I’m not able to view them?  So if you’ve made a comment,  I haven’t seen it.  Sorry.
