Eye opening casual dinner

For a while now we’ve been having occasional casual dinners,  with a group of -casual- friends.  Tonight,  one of the ‘friends’ , insisted that Katie Couric’s news program be put on the TV in the dining room.  This of course brought on a lively round of discussion at her end of the table.   Not being inclined to ruin the dinner,  I kept quiet,  but took mental notes.

The majority of the people I was having dinner with were life long Democrat’s.   If my little German Shorthair Pointer was running for President as a Democrat,  her AKC bloodline would be more than good enough for them.   I am absolutely flabergasted at the multitude of lies that these people readily accept as the God’s Truth!!!!  I believe, that at some time during the discussion,  every lie ever told about Sarah Palin,  was repeated at least once.  And of course,  every other pause, was an excuse to knock President Bush.   At one point,  I had to bite my tongue to keep from asking,  “Who is Obama running against anyway,  Sarah Palin or John McCain??”"   It was a excellent example of people only hearing that which they wish to hear.

Bottom Line:  I think the casual dinners are off the adjenda for a while.

In  a few minutes,  I’m headed out to hand over checks for an amount equal to TWO of my pension checks, to the tax collector!  (NOTE:  I get 12 checks per year!)

This atrocious amount,  is only a small portion of my tax burden.  (example: not including Federal , or State income tax )  All in all,  over half of my retirement income winds up going to the tax man.  AND,  how ever you look at him,  Mr. Obama wants to spend and spend,  RAISING taxes to cover his spending.
