We braved the threatening Thunderstorms and put in about 5 hours on the Bay yesterday.
Trolling plugs and crawler harnesses. Typical for my luck when it comes to fishing, we didn’t land a fish. I could hear others on the radio, talking about landing fish, but we just couldn’t seem to find a school. The storms threatened all day, but never actually got started. Oh well, I guess it was a nice day on the water.
Global Warming? Today is June 19th, near the middle of our Michigan Summer. Our furnace, (set at 60 degree’s) has kicked on at least twice a day for the last 10 days or so. If it get’s any warmer, I’m going to have to take out a loan to pay my heating bill.
We made the round trip unscathed. The campground was close enough that I didn’t have to take out a loan for fuel, and a good time was had. The downside was, it Thunderstormed EVERY Night. We had to batten down the campers, and take down the screen house almost every evening. There’s a lot of unpacking and such for today, so,,
Later, G.B.
I’ll be off to ludite land for about a week. (Camping, that is)
I’ll be away from the daily media build ups of the “Dali-Bama”, but just in case you need to know a little more about him. Check out this link at Balleye’s Boomers. Who know’s maybe when I get back, the liberal left, will have succeed in their ongoing attempt to censor Conservative Talk Radio, under the misleading title of “The Fairness Doctrine“. It’s actually titled appropriately. the Libby Left only thinks discussion is fair, if all of their oppostion is silenced.
Stormy weather. Nice mornings, then as the sun heat’s things up, the storms start.
Yesterday afternoon we had a tornado touch down about a 1/4 mile to the west of us, bringing 2.5 to three inch hail balls. My new HHR wound up with one golf ball sized dent in the hood and two in the roof! The Silverado sitting next to it faired better, I wasn’t able to find any new dents in it. (just the one in the hood, from the softball sized piece of ice that fell out of the clear blue sky a couple of years ago!)
What this all leads up to is, still no Walleye fishing.
The Pike are hot and heavy on the edges of the river, both Northern and Gar, and I think their keeping the other fish scared away. In the last week, I’ve lost a near 30 incher and another one around 25 inches. I’ve actually landed a 27 incher, a 25 incher, and yesterday a 24 incher. All Northern’s, I think the Gar are spawning, because they don’t seem to be interested in food. We can see the Gar cruising the river edges, and mostly they look to be about 24 to 28 inches.
There’s a solid East wind today, with storms predicted again, no boating again today. Yesterday after one bout of storms, a Towboat drug in a 30 ft sail boat with the mast busted, so I’m guessing the no boating call is a good one.
Landlocked, G.B.
