AuGres River, Point LookOut, Ice-Report

The ice is going out like a lamb this year.  It’s just kind of melting away,  and slowly floating downstream.  No crushed docks, or floating tree’s,  no late night grinding of huge ice flows.    I haven’t been here long enough to answer why,  but it could be because there’s no where for a fast ice rush to go.  The Bay is still frozen over!  From the mouth of the river,  I could see a couple of small sections of open water,  but mostly it was ice.  And even though we lost an ice fisherman yesterday a little south of here,  there are still a lot of folks out there in shanties.  They do seem to be staying closer to shore though.   Personally,  a pan of Walleye just ain’t enough to get this one out on that ice.

Mr. Bartley nails it again

Don’t leave home unarmed

“And I hope the lot of them rot in hell for it”

NOTE to business entities sending me EMAIL.

This is a note directed at people likeMotley Fool,  and other web oriented business’s that send me email’s that look more like a short book,  (usually with no useable information in them).

I don’t have time to read these massive texts nor do I have an interest in reading them.  If you can’t get what you want to say,  or are trying to sell me,  on one page of an email,  your chances of getting your point across,  are PRETTY DARN SLIM.

Supreme Court on D.C. gun ban

“While we do not expect the Supreme Court to strike down every gun law and regulation on the books,” Gottlieb said, “we anticipate that the court will rule once and for all that the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental individual civil right, and that gun bans, even on specific types of commonly-owned firearms, do not stand up under even modest scrutiny. “

If Gottlieb is right,,,   It’s party time!!   :-)

Unfortunately,  Logic, Reason, An understanding of the Constitution and Right Thoughts,  aren’t always enough in this day and time.

On Fishing Lures (casting and trolling)

We made a stop an Walmart today.  They had just revamped their fishing area for spring.  Here’s what I saw:

Reef Runners:  $6.44

Storm Lures:  $4.54 to $5.99

Rapala’s:  $5.99 to $9.99

As a reference, (though not available at Walmart)

JLV Lures:  $1.99 to $3.07

And the nod for quality goes to JLV.

On the trip to East Tawas,  we saw that except for the shoreline and Tawas Bay,  Lake Huron is clear of ice.   Northern Saginaw Bay on the other hand,  looks like solid ice,  as far south and east as one can see.  I hear there’s open water far to the south,  but you sure can’t tell it from here.
