If you’ve got a couple of bucks or more to spare to help make an American Soldier have a happier Christmas,  head on over to Ballseye’s Boomers and make a donation.  Glen has a deadline of December 7th,  to get his package sent out to the guy’s in harms way. (paypal accepted)

And a bit off the above subject,

GM/UAW’s idea of Retiree Health Benefits

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Two unfortunate events this fall.

1.  I traded in my old worn out truck for a new Chevy HHR.

2. Last night we had to use GM’s new idea of employee health care.

Number one,  unfortunate,  because, now I’ve already bought a new GM vehicle and can’t protest by buying a new Ford, Chrysler, or Toyota.

Number two,  it seems that GM has decided to convert our health card into a Visa/Mastercard.  In other words,  if you go to the hospital, be sure you bring your Visa card, Master Card, or Checkbook,  cause otherwise you probably won’t get treated.  Your GM health care is worth about SQUAT without a charge card backing it up,  and should you not have a charge card, or other source of cash to pay your new very LARGE co-payments,  the hospital will hold your GM Health Card HOSTAGE.

Bottom Line: If you’re a GM retiree,  DON’T GET SICK,  and if you are sick,  you have my sympathies (you won’t get any sympathy from GM!!!!!)

Sportsmans Guide , a mini-review

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I made a small order from Sportsmans Guide a few days ago.  The order included:

A pair of pocket warmers,  A Simmons Pro-Hunter scope,  and A windproof lighter with compass attached to it’s side.

Today the items came;   The compass on the side of the lighter,  does NOT work.   I found the hand warmers for less money, (and they are a brand name) at the local sporting goods store.  The scope was not a “Pro-Hunter”,  but instead the Simmons “8 Point”, (a much lower priced model). (I did some research and found the Simmons “8 Point” scope at another web site,  for 33 percent less!!!)

Final result:  The box is repacked and all items will be returned for a refund, on Friday morning.  I’ll be out for the shipping in both directions,  but hey,  I guess I learned a lesson.

P.S. If you’re interested in the Simmons Master Series 8 point 3-9×40 scope ,  you can get it at Natchez Shooting Supplies for 25 bucks.

National Ammo Week

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

We’re well into National Ammo week,  and I’ve done my civic duty by purchasing 100 rounds of CCI MAXI-MAG .22 wmr jacketed hollow points.  Money’s a little tight due to Christmas coming and all,  or I would have stocked up on centerfire ammo.

Bee Movie?

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Thanks to Geekwitha45,  I’ll not be adding
“The Bee Movie” to my Netflix Que.

And,  on the subject of Netflix movies,

Mr. Brooks” joins “Zodiac” with my list of movies that have wasted 2 or more hours of my time.  (I actually only currently have 3 on that list,  including “Open Season”.)  “Bee Movie” will not likely get the chance to waste my time.
