H.R. 1022 (must fail in committee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

“”…has been proposed and put forth by Representative Carolyn McCarthy. My understand is that in it she proposes to resurrect the old assault weapons ban, add on numerous types of firearms (that are sportsmans’ guns and really have nothing to do with being assault weapons – not that weapon type matters under the 2nd amendment, I am just mentioning what she wants to do), and add a 10% tax on ammunition by each round sold.”"

We need to nip this idea in the bud!!

to file an online petition as your first step in opposition to said bill. Please note that the effectiveness of online petitions is highly questionable, so you must follow that up with emails, letters and or phone calls to your elected officials to oppose this bill.

The proposal is currently in the House Judiciary Committee,  chaired by Michigan’s rabidly anti-gun John Conyers.   You can email that committee by clicking here.

You could go even farther by calling each and every member on the committee,  and letting your own local representative know your dissaproval of this idea!  You can find your representative here.

This is the Liberal Majority’s first large bore round fired at our freedoms,  let’s make sure it doesn’t connect!!  Long Live FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!  Long Live the Second Ammendment!!!!

AuGres River mini report 2/27/07

Surprize!  The big incoming snowstorm didn’t pan out.  We got a couple of inches and the weather has warmed considerably.  The ice,  still at 15 inches on the river,  is starting to get a little soft.

The Walleye (in the river) are still starting to nibble around 4 or 5 Pm and picking up a bit about 6 pm til full dark.  There are a few snowmobilers  still heading out onto the edges of the Bay,  but I doesn’t look like a good idea to me.

As it warms up a bit,  it’s starting to feel more and more like SHOOTING WEATHER!

Dumocrat’s on the loose

Well,  I don’t have all the details,  but yesterday I heard that one of the new Dem’s in the legislature,  has proposed to renew the dreaded and useless”Assault Weapons Ban”,  to top it off,  they’ve added a 10 cent per round tax on ammo.

The article said that this rendition had little chance of passing,  but we could consider it,  an “opening shot across the bow of the USS FREEDOM!

Video Cadet ventures on

Yesterday I shortened the lenght of the co-ax cable from the Sat. box to the upstairs TV and removed a splitter.

I realized that the downstairs TV could be connected via S-video and component cables,  thus allowing the co-ax from the Sat box to go directly to the Big TV upstairs.

Note:  I tried the Sat box upstairs yesterday also,  but for some reason,  I assume cable length,  the Sat box will not recieve a signal on the upper floor??

State of the HD?  My cheap powered over the air antennae just isn’t reliable,  it’s going back.  The picture on the HD set (from the sattelite) is now a lot better,  but still far from perfect. Still no reliable HDTV.

Last nights fare was “The Guardian” starring Kevin Costner.  I’d give the movie about 3 out of five stars,  pretty predictable.  I’d give the HDTV about 3.5 stars out of five.  The picture was pretty clear and the sound was very good.  It wasn’t an HD capable DVD and I don’t have an upconvert player,  so I guess it gave about as good as it got.  I’m still a bit frustrated by the fact that wide screen isn’t standardized.  Seems like there are always spacer bars somewhere.

Note: I passed up an upconverting DVD player,  complete with an included HDMI cable .  The price was right, but it was an open box, unknown brand, unit at Meijer’s.
