Buoy 45008, South Huron , is now regularly indicating that the water at the mouth of Saginaw Bay is averaging colder than the air.
I know, it’s like that all summer,,,, but, when fall comes, and the air temp. starts dropping, the water temperature hangs on. We go through a period of cold nights and often quite cold day’s, when the water is warmer than the air.
At least for me, when that periods ends, when fall comes and drifts towards winter, when warm water, cold air, turns back to cold water, warmer air, we’re in the first stages of Winter. (Indian Summer) When we come around again, to cold air, warmer water, it’s definitely Winter!
As much as I love Indian Summer, my old bones will be rooting for the next turnover, warmer air, cooler water.
