The air temp is 37 degree’s at 2:45 PM, and the water temp is 45 degree’s. Looks like the end of Indian Summer. There’s snow in the forecast, but maybe, hopefully, we’ll get at least one more bout of I.S. .

Buoy 45008, South Huron , is now regularly indicating that the water at the mouth of Saginaw Bay is averaging colder than the air.
I know, it’s like that all summer,,,, but, when fall comes, and the air temp. starts dropping, the water temperature hangs on. We go through a period of cold nights and often quite cold day’s, when the water is warmer than the air.
At least for me, when that periods ends, when fall comes and drifts towards winter, when warm water, cold air, turns back to cold water, warmer air, we’re in the first stages of Winter. (Indian Summer) When we come around again, to cold air, warmer water, it’s definitely Winter!
As much as I love Indian Summer, my old bones will be rooting for the next turnover, warmer air, cooler water.

Ok, so spring-air guns shoot differently than combustion powered guns.
This is the result of 25 rounds of the Daisy Ammo thru the TF-99, fired from the sitting position, at 10 yards. Only the center target was aimed at. The single round outside the black was my fault.
Moving back to 25 yards, I was able to punch holes in a Cambell’s soup can at will. As I get better at putting together all the air gun shooting tips I’ve been given, the groups are tightening up. At this point I can usually call my shots at 25 yards. I sure didn’t know I was going to have to learn to shoot all over again when I bought this unit.

The list is long, and you will surely find some hypocrites there.

And just to tick any of those people off, should they be reading this,
Here’s a link to the Tueller Drill, How Close is to Close .
Today, 18 formal rounds, three different pellets, three different targets. All at 25ft.
The Beeman Match Wadcutters had the best showing. The 6 rd. group about 1.25 inch tall and .5 inch wide.
The Daisy Precision Match Flat Nose, 1.75 in. tall, 1 in. wide.
The Crossman 625 Domed, 1.75 in. tall, 1 in. wide. These also shot about two inches high, and threw one stringer, about 2 inches from the rest of the group.
Moving out to 100 ft with mixed Beeman and Daisy pellets, the pattern opened up to 4 inches high and 2 in. wide, with 2 wild stringers out of 14 shots.
All shooting was done without a rest from the kneeling position. As recommended by the Compasseco Tech.. (no benchrest)
Todays conclusion: I can see the difference the match grade pellets make. But I’m still not nearly satisfied. I can also see that my technique is a part of the problem. These spring air guns are a pain to learn to shoot. Bottom line, at 100 feet, I can fire my 6 inch barreled S&W K-22 (double action), and shoot tighter groups than these!!!!! Single action, the K-22 will blow these groups out of the water! But, at least, if I watch my technique, I can keep them in the 10 ring. (better than previous shooting sessions) I suppose it’s still a “work in progress”.
