Griffon VS Glock Part II

Ok, with a bit a help from the 1911 forum on www.ar15.com ,
I was able to disassemble the Griffon. Funny how simple it is when you know the “secrete code”.
Even though I had thoroughly washed it down with “Gun Scrubber”,
it was shocking to see how dirty is was internally.
All the important stuff was fairly clean and well lubed, but all the crevises were packed with oily burnt powder residue.
I can now, authoritively say, that it is clean and well lubed.
There is very little wear, and it looks like a very solid old gun.
In a day or so, I’ll pull the slide and send it off to P-T night sights, to get the tritium tubes (on the sights) replaced. Then, hopefully by the time the slide comes back, the new spare mag. and holster will be here. Shortly after that, I’ll post a range report and some more pictures.

And for the record;

On a 1911 with a “solid ejector spring rod”, the disassemble procedure is as follows:
1. Drop the magazine
2. Be sure the chamber is unloaded
3. Pull the slide back until the small notch on the slide lines up with the slide stop lever.
4. Pull/push out the slide stop lever
5. Carefully slide the “slide” off (toward barrel end of the gun)
Dirt and grime exposed!
6. Lift the rear end of the ejector spring rod slightly
7. Use a barrel lug wrench to rotate the barrel lug, (clockwise)
8. Once clear of the lug the ejector spring rod with jump out the front.
9. Now slide the barrel carefully out the front of the slide.
10. Clean, lube and resassemble.

"This I believe"

On the way in this morning, I happened to catch the news on the local public radio station. Just so happens, it was followed by a segment of,
“This I believe”.
This particular segment was that of a 16 year old American boy, speaking of his belief that times will get better.

It got me to thinkin’ in that particularly politically incorrect way;

This -I- believe.

I believe that I can protect myself and my family, if our government honors the word and letter of our Constitution, and Bill of Rights.

I believe that the “Castle Doctrine” law is a must for Michigan.

I believe I could support my family in grand style, if it weren’t for the massive amounts of tax I pay to big government.

I believe that BIG GOVERNMENT is nearly always BAD!

I believe that there is very little truth left in public reporting.

I believe there is almost zero honesty when it comes to politics.

I believe in God, but not in any organized church.

I believe that God, has given us a free hand, and that if we destroy ourselves, that’s just what will happen. It’s up to us.

I believe Bill Whittle’s, essay named “Tribes”, is awesome!

Finally, a private fantasy.

I “say” I believe that life on this planet is decended from two very different sources. Somehow, the two species are physically undetectable from each other. It’s only when their thought processes and logic is studied, that the huge differences between the two species inhabiting our planet becomes clear.

Citgo and Pals

From Grant Swank Jr. at CNSNEWS:

“Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez promises to bring down the US government. Speaking to a TV audience he stated: “Enough of imperialist aggression. We must tell the world: down with the US empire. We have to bury imperialism this century.

Telecast with him to Venezuela onlookers was Cindy Sheehan, Bush-despiser.

Prior, Belafonte, meeting with Chavez, named US President George W. Bush as “the greatest terrorist in the world.”

It is reported that Chavez is making plans with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro to see through their toppling of America.

To add to this insanity is the fact that Venezuela is the sole owner of Citgo gas.

Therefore, Citgo moneys go back to Chavez’s plot to undo the United States.

What can the grassroots do? Boycott Citgo.”

‘NUFF SAID!

Or you could listen to this “Barking Moonbat“.

Note the below quote: Although I don’t believe it applies to this “moonbat idiot”, I think he fully intends to do great harm.

Quote of the Day

“T.S. Eliot understood this more than half a century ago when he wrote: “Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm — but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.”
